The Promised Land

When the Israelites eventually did reach the Promised Land the first thing they were commanded by God to do was destroy all the altars and images that had been set up there by pagan tribes to honour Baal and Ashtoreth. Once more we see an insistence from God that their camp is kept clean. Holiness is paramount. Instead of doing so, they ended up turning their back on God and worshipping the idols again. The lure of the gods that surround them and the culture in which they have been steeped keeps polluting and sidetracking God’s people and God is constantly disciplining them and drawing them back into Him. The battle between God and Satan for this people group manifests itself in a tug of war where the Israelites are constantly rebelling and being restored.

The determination of Satan to destroy the relationship the Jews have with God is very clear. They were after all fast becoming the last barrier between him and total domination.

At this stage his tactic is to merely pollute them. He thinks they can be swayed; that they might be tempted to follow him if he pitches it right. Given his past record, we can see why he’s confident of this approach. It has worked unfailingly until now. If we think back on human history between Adam and Moses, human beings have been easy pickings. He appealed to Adam and Eve’s pride and they followed him. He infected the rest of the world with his lies to the extent that God had to destroy the Earth with a flood and start over. After the flood he managed to fill the Earth once more with his satanic polytheism starting with Nimrod and Semiramis. He’s been able to sway whoever he wanted, whenever he wanted without much resistance. He has never had to go to war against humans in an overt sense; he’s merely appealed to their vanity and offered them the world. In the face of that offer, they have buckled every time.We can think of the soft approach as Satan’s Plan A. When the Muslim prophet Muhammad was first inspired by a demonic angel to establish Islam, his initial approach to the Jews was the same. Muhammad tried to be subtle about introducing his false religion into their midst. When the Jews rejected his claims, he turned violent against them and was hell bent on their destruction for the rest of his days. This was Plan B. When Jesus was in the wilderness prior to the commencement of his ministry, Satan tempted him with Plan A. He promised him land, wealth, status. When Jesus turned him down, Satan saw to it that he was crucified. This was Plan B. When Edmund finds himself in Narnia in the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis, the white witch (representing Satan) is charming and polite, offering him Turkish Delight and hot chocolate. This is Plan A. When Edmund is brought back on side, she goes after him, demanding his life, and she would have had it too if Aslan had not ransomed it. But this was Plan B.

Plan A had worked almost without fail for Satan but when it came to polluting God’s people, it won him some battles but it just wasn’t winning the war. God kept restoring them to him, kept revealing himself to them, and kept drawing them back into him. And so Satan has regularly switched to Plan B. Across the world and throughout history, the Jews have frequently been threatened with extermination, enslavement and persecution.

One pivotal moment in the war for the Jews and which has consequences for us today occurs after the Jews had established themselves in the Promised Land and it can be read in the book of 1 Kings.

Ahab, Jezebel and Elijah

Immediately after Israel was established in the Promised Land of Canaan it was governed by a system of Judges and God was considered their supreme ruler or king. But by the time of 1 Samuel the people started to demand a human king in order to be like the other nations around them. In spite of God’s warnings about replacing Him with a human king they persisted with the request and God duly obliged. The first human king was Saul who was soon replaced by David. This takes us onto the book of 1 Kings in the Bible where the subsequent successions of power are documented. These transitions of leadership led to the division of Israel and again we see a constant invasion of Baal worship over the years.

Just as Nimrod’s importance was hinted at by the extra attention given to him in Genesis, the same can be said of king Ahab. The writer makes sure to elaborate on his reign and to tell us his story in greater depth.

The Bible says of Ahab that “he did evil in the Lord’s sight, even more than any of the kings before him.” This guy was the worst of the worst. There had been bad kings before but no one touched Ahab. Not only this, but he married a woman called Jezebel, who was the princess daughter of Ethbaal, Canaanite King of Tyre and Sidon and priest of Astarte. This is not a good combination of titles and not the kind of family the king of Israel should have been marrying into. For a people that God was intent on keeping undefiled and pure, this marriage would pose significant problems.

As expected, soon after their marriage, Ahab established a temple for Baal and an Asherah (Ashtoreth or Astarte) pole in Israel for his wife’s sake. An Asherah pole is basically an obscene phallic symbol (remember paganism is obsessed with sex) – an obelisk. But Queen Jezebel was not content to simply allow the worship of Baal and Asherah concurrently with the worship of Israel’s true God; she was determined to eliminate worship of the true God altogether. She embarked on a campaign whereby most of God’s prophets were killed and in their place were installed false prophets for Baal and Asherah. She successfully controlled Ahab, implemented idol worship and had him build a temple in their honour.

As a result the biblical record shows Israel plunging from the heights of David’s glorious and Godly reign to the depths of the pagan idolatry and Satanism under Ahab and this was in many ways Israel’s darkest hour. Satan was very close to winning God’s chosen people to himself once and for all. The apostasy of Israel was almost complete. The foundations of Godliness were fast crumbling. The judgement of God was forthcoming.

Now do Ahab and Jezebel remind you of anyone? They were virtually identical to Nimrod and Semiramis. It’s almost as though Satan thought to himself that since this tactic had worked so well in Babylon, it might just be the one that would finally clinch victory in the battle to subvert the Israelites. Like when a play or shot works particularly well in sports, you’re tempted to use it again in the hope it produces the same result. This is what he was doing. He was attempting to create the same kind of structure within Israel that he had created in Babylon and was hoping the same end would be achieved.

Just as Semiramis had risen to power on the coat tails of Nimrod, the evil Jezebel wed herself to Ahab and introduced idolatry into their life as an evil religious practice. This was probably not a marriage of love; rather it was a spiritual and political affiliation designed to merge two different kingdoms. Just as Semiramis had an insatiable lust for power and would go to any ends to retain it, we see the same kind of spirit in Jezebel. Given her background in Baal worship where sex acts and licentious living was exalted as a way to tap into the power of the gods, she would have had no qualms ‘sleeping her way to the top’.

Ahab, King of Israel, was completely subdued and dominated by Jezebel. Israel was now full of pagan shrines, filled with priestess prostitutes servicing the worshippers. The sexual lure was more than the men of Israel could resist. By Jezebel’s influence, 10 million Israelites left the worship of God for Baal and Ashtoreth. Only 7000 people in the entire nation were not swayed by her control. This is how close Satan came to claiming Israel and thus, removing the last remaining barrier between him and world domination.

God had a man for the job though – Elijah. Jezebel had killed most of God’s prophets but hadn’t managed to get her hands on Elijah yet. And it was he who God used to turn Israel back from the brink. It all took place on Mount Carmel – a direct showdown between God and Baal.

God Confronts Baal

Elijah was becoming exasperated with the disobedience of the Jews and their constant wandering away from God. The nation that God had reserved for Himself by covenant kept prostituting itself with the evil Babylonian system. And so he challenged the priests of Baal to go to Mount Carmel for a contest in front of all Israel. Notice again how he chooses a mountain for this confrontation. They are competing to find out who is the commander of the high places and the real ‘most high’ God. The confrontation is designed to show God’s people once and for all that they should turn their back on Baal, who is Satan, and commit themselves to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent.

Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only prophet of the LORD who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets. Now bring two bulls. The prophets of Baal may choose whichever one they wish and cut it into pieces and lay it on the wood of their altar, but without setting fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it. Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed.

Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “You go first, for there are many of you. Choose one of the bulls, and prepare it and call on the name of your god. But do not set fire to the wood.”

So they prepared one of the bulls and placed it on the altar. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning until noontime, shouting, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no reply of any kind. Then they danced, hobbling around the altar they had made.

About noontime Elijah began mocking them. “You’ll have to shout louder,” he scoffed, “for surely he is a god! Perhaps he is daydreaming, or is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be wakened!”

So they shouted louder, and following their normal custom, they cut themselves with knives and swords until the blood gushed out. They raved all afternoon until the time of the evening sacrifice, but still there was no sound, no reply, no response.

Then Elijah called to the people, “Come over here!” They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of the LORD that had been torn down. He took twelve stones, one to represent each of the tribes of Israel, and he used the stones to rebuild the altar in the name of the LORD. Then he dug a trench around the altar large enough to hold about three gallons. He piled wood on the altar, cut the bull into pieces, and laid the pieces on the wood.

Then he said, “Fill four large jars with water, and pour the water over the offering and the wood.”

After they had done this, he said, “Do the same thing again!” And when they were finished, he said, “Now do it a third time!” So they did as he said, and the water ran around the altar and even filled the trench.

At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, “O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command. O LORD, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O LORD, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.”

Immediately the fire of the LORD flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The LORD—he is God! Yes, the LORD is God!”

Then Elijah commanded, “Seize all the prophets of Baal. Don’t let a single one escape!” So the people seized them all, and Elijah took them down to the Kishon Valley and killed them there.”

1 Kings 18:21-40

Notice that self mutilation was part of the normal custom for Baal worship and remember that Satan loves to humiliate and mutilate man because he is made in God’s image. One of the evidences of the increasing influence of Baal and Asherah on society today is the rise in self harm, tattooing, piercing etc. Ronald Scutt, in his book Art, Sex and Symbol remarks how tattooing was historically associated with Baal worship, sun worship and serpent worship.

Again, evil had to be wiped out. As long as the priests of Baal remained Israel would always be under threat from their influence. All the prophets of Baal were killed. Generally speaking, although not entirely, it was here that Satan ceased with ‘Plan A’. They would not be swayed. It was time for him to resort to ‘Plan B’. Violence. The rest of the Old Testament records how they were attacked, invaded, captured and taken into captivity. We’ll get to that later. We can’t however pass this moment by without learning more about Jezebel (in the next article post...).

Take Action Now: Protect The U.S. From U.N. Internet Control

At first there was barely a whisper that an international effort had been undertaken to gain more control of the Internet. But now, thanks to the free exchange of information over the Internet, that whisper has become a much louder voice, spurring many to push back against a global attempt to take over and regulate various aspects of Internet operations, such as assignment of domain names and privacy controls. A meeting to discuss the preliminaries of renegotiating a 1988 treaty was held by the United Nations' International Telecommunication Union (ITU) February 27-29, 2012, in Geneva, Switzerland.The next stop is a World Conference on International Telecommunications in Dubai on December 3-14, 2012, where it is feared that a UN takeover of the Internet will be authorized.

The International Telecommunication Union is a specialized arm of the UN that deals with all communication technologies; it has 193 member countries. The 1988 treaty was originally titled as International Telecommunication Regulations, or ITRs. The problematic portion of that 1988 treaty, for Internet freedom lovers, is Art. 9.1b which deals with cyber security and infrastructure protections. The section obligates countries to "avoid technical harm to the operation of the telecommunication facilities of third countries" for internets spanning national boundaries.According to the ITU, "Such obligations potentially include setting and adopting standards, monitoring traffic flows, cooperation among parties, establishing implementing national laws, and instituting enforcement mechanisms."

Robert McDowell, a commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission, warns that Brazil, Russia, India, and China are trying to seize the moment to place cybersecurity and data privacy under United Nations control. He further warns that this would be a dangerous step toward severe censorship and has the potential to destroy Web innovation and a part of our economy. McDowell believes some of these countries’ motivation for regulation includes the promise of money for state-owned phone companies that would be able to charge a fee on a “per-click basis for certain websites.”

In an interview at CPAC, McDowell clearly iterated that what is happening now is a renegotiation of the 1988 treaty that would then need only a simple majority vote at the Dubai meeting this December to implement a UN takeover of the Internet. The ITU and UN deny there are “any proposals on the table that would impact access to or freedom of the Internet,” said one ITU official. But one report lists the goal of the UN to “internationally manage” the Internet. That would include subsuming “under intergovernmental control many functions.... which establish the engineering and technical standards that allow the Internet to work,” reports the Business Spectator.

The facts are: The UN’s ITU is working on renegotiating the 1988 ITR treaty. The conference set for Dubai in December of 2012 will most likely see these new UN “harmonizations” and “standards” for the Internet adopted by a simple majority vote of the 193 member nations of the ITU. The question is: Could these new provisions be adopted as an amendment and be automatically implemented in the countries of the signatories of the original treaty? Many believe this to be the case. If so, national sovereignty for those nations voting against a UN takeover of the Internet would suffer another gigantic hit. The United States does not have a veto in the ITU assembly.

No one government or international group of governments should appoint themselves as overseers, controllers, or regulators of any aspect of the Internet. A free and bottom-up, open approach has proven to be best for the Internet -- best for innovation, for the economy, and for the free flow of information.

Click here to contact your Representative and Senators immediately regarding this UN threat to Internet freedom. Tell them to ignore the toothless and even partially wrongheaded "sense of the House of Representatives" resolution against UN control over the Internet, H. Res. 57, and instead wield their legislative powers under the Constitution to protect the Internet from any form of takeover by the United Nations' International Telecommunication Union.

Take Action Now: Oppose Dangerous Global Internet Treaty

In the annals of President Obama’s short reign, many have learned to expect the unexpected. New and innovative processes combined with unconstitutional initiatives are helping the Obama Administration serve its political agenda. Topping the list just might be the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), a treaty signed by President Obama on October 1, 2011, and now presented to the American public and Congress as an “executive agreement.”

Although containing many confusing rules and regulations that even the international signers don’t exactly understand, ACTA is basically an international trade agreement or global pact to protect private interests and copyright holders. Like the name implies, though, ACTA combines counterfeiting and piracy, which of course are two very different things.

Under ACTA, copyright holders could demand that their intellectual property rights were violated and Internet connections could be terminated for suspects without due process. Even a country like China could demand that an Internet service provider (ISP) in the U.S. be forced to remove content or the website shutdown. In addition, much broader power to search laptops and other devices at global checkpoints would be initiated. It is an Internet censorship measure that would penalize those who innocently share a newspaper article or upload a video with copyrighted music.

But most alarming is the nefarious way in which the legislative process has been circumvented.

While most have never heard of the term “executive agreement,” it has been used quite liberally since the dawn of the 20th century. Most often executive agreements are used in relation to foreign policy. Both FDR and Truman made secret executive agreements at Cairo, Yalta, and Potsdam that greatly impacted the entire world. The bombing of Cambodia and Laos were secret arrangements that also came under the executive agreement label.

Often the ploy is to sign on to international agreements, then force Congress to approve the agreements by resolution in order to meet “international obligations,” that were solidified in secret and without open debate. And that seems to be the case with Obama and ACTA. It’s also an easy way to hide draconian legislation inside these trade agreements which the public routinely turns a blind eye to. With ACTA, Obama could achieve what the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) couldn’t, and that is legitimize dangerous and sweeping intellectual property regulations that would give our government and international governments the keys to the Internet.

Forcing implementation of ACTA is an attempt by Obama to bind the entire nation to international regulations that only Congress is empowered to authorize. Intellectual property and copyright laws are the concern of Congress, so its members should be hopping mad that their role has once again been usurped by the White House. Allowing an executive agreement to trump constitutionally authorized legislative powers is a dangerous precedent and should be challenged and resisted.

Contact your Senators and Representative and tell them to assert the legislative powers they have been granted by the Constitution by rejecting ACTA and this blatant extension of the Executive Branch’s power. Let them know that they should never support legislation in favor of ACTA, or pass it as a treaty. Right now it seems the only Senator who understands the gravity of the situation is Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) who sent a letter to President Obama on the subject back in 2011 wherein Wyden points out the lack of congressional approval for ACTA.

In a preemptive strike, also warn your congressional representatives of the dangers of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) that is the sequel to ACTA. The TPP is currently being negotiated by the United States Trade Representative (USTR) with Pacific Rim countries. The Obama Administration’s transparency policy for TPP “does not involve any commitments to sharing the text with the general public.” Instead only member countries and the USTR advisory board know the contents of this secret pact that is said to subject whole countries to “fines” for non-compliance.

This is not how Americans should have regulations imposed upon them. Preserve the Internet from global control and censorship by helping to stop ACTA and the TPP now!

Blurring The Lines Of Religion

Much has been said about the new world order, the tyrannical one world government that globalist international elites and banksters are working to create, many do not consider the one world religion that will accompany this monstrosity. Religion and faith are the keystones of morality, ethics and social governance in most societies. It's been said that more wars are fought over religion than any other reason. That is true, and it's because one's core belief in something greater than themselves illicits a passionate response in most thinking individuals.

But what if your personal belief system was watered down until it was only a vague reflection of what it once was? What if it was gradually subtly engineered to elicit a different set of values, manipulating you and billions of others to voluntarily submit to a greater order of business?

Meet the good folks of the United Religions Initiative. Subsidized by the United Nations, the URI directs religious leaders of the world towards the goal of one homogenized religion - an "Interfaith" instead of a faith. The URI is broken down into "CCs" or Cooperative Circles, across the globe. Picture dropping a pebble in the water and seeing the rings spreading outward. Then envision many pebbles - and picture the rings around them touching and becoming one.

Today on the URI North America blog, Reverend Leland Stewart summed up the need for a new religion.

At the beginning of every new cycle of life, a new faith is needed for its implementation. We are now entering into the global civilization, a worldwide community of all races, cultures, and religions. In order to give clarity and power to this transformation, a new faith is required. This is not to say that the existing faiths are no longer needed but rather that the coming together of the world’s faiths requires a “new testament”, a new view and understanding of life based upon the new consciousness that is arising in our time. Anything less will not heal the wounds being inflicted upon the world’s peoples.

Religion, however, is a very effective governing tool, and the United Nations has been quick to jump on the bandwagon to further the principles of Agenda 21. In a 1994 lecture an American pastor named Carl McIntire warned us of the dangers inherent in the UN Commission on Religion.

The United Nations has finally established a Commission on Religion to assist it in bringing the world together. These recent developments reported in The New American, April 3rd quotes the leaders-with the United Nations who have projected what must be done to have a one world worship. According to these reports the UN needs all this for its "sustainable development." To bring the nations together what is called "Gaia Hypothesis" . . . "holds that the earth itself is a deity which we should worship, and that the UN is the instrument through which the earth goddess will dictate our form of devotion."Under the guises of "world peace" and "sustainability" we are being shepherded along to a world with a false equality. The resources of the Earth would be worshipped, protected and doled out by a small percentage of people and allocated to the rest of us. Awash in a warm neo-religious glow, chanting the names of multiple deities, compartmentalized in our "green" apartments, we'd be voluntarily controlled.

The URI is not alone in furthering the agenda of the United Nations through faith. Formed in 2002, the mission statement of the World Council of Religions is eerily in line with Agenda 21.

The World Council of Religious Leaders aims to serve as a model and guide for the creation of a community of world religions. In the spirit of service and humility, it seeks to inspire women and men of all faiths in the pursuit of peace, justice and mutual understanding. It will undertake initiatives to provide the spiritual resources of the world's religious traditions to assist the United Nations and its agencies in the prevention, resolution and healing of conflicts and in the eradication of their causes and in addressing social and environmental problems. By promoting the practice of the spiritual values shared by all religious traditions, and by uniting the human community for times of world prayer and meditation, the World Council seeks to aid in developing the inner qualities and external conditions needed for the creation of a more peaceful, just and sustainable world society.

This council is made up of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Taoists, Buddhists and Hindus. Stated goals include greater economic equality, reforestation and protection of natural resource areas, and the creation of a just and sustainable world society.

From a distance these sound like very fine goals. Who can argue with world peace? What could possibly be wrong with making sure everyone has food and water? How can one deny the need to take care of the world's resources? Isn't it wonderful that all of the religions of the world can finally just get along?

The problem is this: The Universal Religion takes Stockholm Syndrome to an entirely new level. The Universal Religion is a tool to take over the world. This subtle indoctrination will be used to herd people into their little "green" cubicles, dole out their sustainable food and utilities, and keep them not only cooperative, but enthusiastic, participants in their own subjugation.

Imagine a world with ONLY ONE RELIGION. There would be no Christianity, no Judaism, no Hinduism, no Buddhism. These would all be diluted and melded into one earth-based pantheistic religion called Gaia or the Universal Religion. This would allow no room for differing beliefs or opinions. The media/propaganda machine would churn out reams of misguided green evangelism. Worship services would proselytize the agenda. People would be brainwashed to sincerely believe that they were doing the right thing by falling in line.

Marx was right when he said that "Religion is the opiate of the masses."

And if we aren't careful we'll be sedated right into obsolescence by the Universal Religion.

The 2-minute video is a public meeting of former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton responding to a US war veteran’s question. The video shows that FOX then edits-out the audience response to replace it with applause from a different person’s question. The proof is that the applause-segment shows a different person walking away from the microphone than the person who asked the question. The veteran testified that the audience booed Mr. Bolton’s answer.

FOX News is simply the war-mongering propaganda arm of the American marxist-fascist news network, while CNN and MSNBC are the marxist-socialistic arm that leans toward the communistic. Even Russia Today currently allows some truth in its broadcasts, likely in an effort to build up a viewer base. PETA hypocrites are well known for making a spectacle by paying models to publicly strip down to varying states of nakedness and angrily protest against those who eat meat or wear fur; these spectacles are useful in obtaining donations from a well meaning public ignorant of PETA's real agenda and operations.

The following article documents PETA's slaughterhouse operations for killing almost all the household pets given to them to be "rescued", clearly revealing the hypocrisy and corruption that is PETA. From the Daily Caller:

Documents published online this month show that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, an organization known for its uncompromising animal-rights positions, killed more than 95 percent of the pets in its care in 2011.

The documents, obtained from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, were published online by the Center for Consumer Freedom, a non-profit organization that runs online campaigns targeting groups that antagonize food producers.

Fifteen years’ worth of similar records show that since 1998 PETA has killed more than 27,000 animals at its headquarters in Norfolk, VA.

In a February 16 statement, the Center said PETA killed 1,911 cats and dogs last year, finding homes for only 24 pets.

“PETA hasn’t slowed down its slaughterhouse operation,” said Rick Berman, CCF’s executive director. “It appears PETA is more concerned with funding its media and advertising antics than finding suitable homes for these dogs and cats.”

In a statement, Berman added that PETA has a $37 million dollar annual budget.
His organization runs PETAkillsAnimals.com, which reports that in 2010 a resident of Virginia called PETA and asked if there was an animal shelter at the group’s headquarters. PETA responded that there was not.

The Virginian, the website reports, then called his state’s agriculture department. Dr. Daniel Kovich investigated, and conducted an inspection of PETA’s headquarters.

“The facility does not contain sufficient animal enclosures to routinely house the number of animals annually reported as taken into custody,” Kovich concluded in his report.

Kovich also determined that PETA employees kill 84 percent of the animals in their custody within 24 hours of receiving them.

“[PETA’s] primary purpose,” Kovich wrote, “is not to find permanent adoptive homes for animals.”

PETA media liaison Jane Dollinger told The Daily Caller in an email that “most of the animals we take in are society’s rejects; aggressive, on death’s door, or somehow unadoptable.”

Dollinger did not dispute her organization’s sky-high euthanasia rate, but insisted PETA only kills dogs and cats because of “injury, illness, age, aggression, or because no good homes exist for them.”

PETA’s own history, however, shows that this has not always been the case.
In 2005, two PETA employees described as “adorable” and “perfect” some of the dogs and cats they killed in the back of a PETA-owned van. The two were arrested after police witnessed them tossing the animals’ dead bodies into a North Carolina dumpster.

From Abraham to Moses

Abraham’s son was Isaac and Isaac had a son called Jacob. Jacob then had a son called Joseph and you will no doubt know his famous story. The youngest brother in the family, he was beaten and sold into slavery by his older brothers. Many years of slavery, false accusation and imprisonment later, he found favour with the Egyptian Pharaoh and was eventually given power to rule there. He was later reconciled with his brothers and the whole family moved to Egypt to be with him there. It is while there in Egypt that the Jewish people really began to multiply. The Bible describes it like this:These are the names of the sons of Israel (Jacob) who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family: Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah; Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin; Dan and Naphtali; Gad and Asher. The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all; Joseph was already in Egypt.

Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, but the Israelites were fruitful and multiplied greatly and became exceedingly numerous, so that the land was filled with them.

Exodus 1:1-7

After some time the Pharaoh who knew Joseph and who presided over the immigration of that first generation of Jews died and was replaced with a successor. The successor had not heard of Joseph and had no special feeling for his descendants and indeed began to fear that the Jews were becoming too numerous in the land. He imagined that if war were ever to break out, they would not be loyal to their host country, Egypt, and would join the opposing side. Imagining that they were a threat to national security, he decided to oppress them with forced labour. However they continued to multiply and prosper to such a degree that Pharaoh took more drastic action – enslaving them and subjugating them under Egyptian rule. In order to keep their numbers down, he also commanded that all Jewish boys be killed the moment they are born.

This is when God intervened in the oppression by calling Moses to lead his people out of Egypt, through the desert, and into the freedom of a Promised Land flowing with milk and honey. Pharaoh, as you’ll know, dug his heels in and refused to let God’s people go. In response to this stubbornness, God sent 10 plagues. Now lest you think we were getting off track it is important to realise that these plagues were not arbitrary. They were in fact direct attacks on the false gods that had originated in Babylon.

The Plagues

It’s worth highlighting a curious phenomenon at this point. I remember hearing of someone who had developed some kind of obsession with a story/movie/album called Jonathan Livingston Seagull which was demonically inspired. When that demon was being expelled from the person, he literally took on the characteristics of a seagull. From this example and others, it appears that when human beings create an idol or god associated with something, a real demon is assigned to the position to become the object of their affections. So in a sense, the ‘god’ becomes real, but only in that it is a demonic entity.

This makes sense. We can imagine that since a desire to be God inspired Satan’s rebellion and it was the same lie that inspired man’s rebellion, it would have been the same lie Satan used to inspire a third of the angels to rebel. These fallen angels, now called demons, will want to be worshipped like gods and it is probably for this reason that polytheism became rife spiritually speaking. Behind each of the thousands if not millions of gods or goddesses are demons who have taken on a role. But remembering the pyramid structure, there are more powerful ones and less powerful ones until we trace them all back to the top of the pyramid where there is Baal, Ashtoreth and ultimately Satan.

Some of the demon gods of Egypt

Now when God sent 10 plagues upon the Egyptians, he was taking the opportunity to show his authority over their demonic gods. The first plague that God visited upon the Egyptians for example was to turn the water of the Nile and indeed all the water in Egypt to blood. This was not some random whim, a magic trick to wow and amaze Pharaoh. It was a calculated sniper shot aimed directly at the Egyptian god of the Nile, Hapi. God was showing Egypt that their gods were powerless against him. Primarily however, this show of strength was for the benefit of the Jews. God wanted to show them that they could trust him, that he really was the true God and that he had complete superiority over the Egyptian form of the Babylonian gods that they were surrounded with.

There were also several other gods that would have been shown up by this miracle. Although Hapi was considered the ‘spirit of the Nile’, they believed a god called Khnum was the guardian of its resources. This blow would have been for him also. Some Egyptians believed that the Nile was the bloodstream of the god Osiris and therefore it was fitting that God actually turned it to blood. All were completely feeble in the presence of Almighty God.

The second plague was an infestation of frogs. Again this was not arbitrary but a show of God’s superiority over Heket or Heqt – goddess of fertility, water and renewal.

The third plague was lice from the dust of the Earth and this was God’s show of superiority over the Egyptian god, Geb - god of the Earth.

The fourth plague was swarms, most probably of flies, and this was God’s show of superiority over the Egyptian god Khepri. He had the head of a fly and was the god of creation, movement of the sun and rebirth.

The fifth plague was the death of cattle and livestock. This was God’s show of superiority over the Egyptian goddess Hathor. Hathor was originally worshipped in the form of a cow. She was later represented as a woman with the head of a cow and then finally with a human head. She was the symbolic mother of Pharaoh.

The sixth plague was boils and sores and this was God’s show of superiority over Isis. Isis is the goddess of medicine and peace. It would also have been an affront to Imhotep (god of knowledge), Serapis (healing) and Thoth (intelligence and medical learning). Notice also how Isis is depicted with a tower on her head, like the crown Semiramis wore.

The seventh plague was hail and this was God’s show of superiority over the Egyptian goddess of the sky, Nut. Nut was also considered by the Egyptians to be the mother of five other gods: Osiris, Hathor, Set, Isis, and Nephthys. This plague was also an affront to Shu, the wind god and Horus, the hawk-headed sky god. Isis and Seth supposedly protected the crops, but the burned fields were a testimony to their impotence in the face of almighty God.

The eighth plague was locusts sent from the sky. This was primarily God’s show of superiority over the god of crops, Seth. It was also an affront to Nepri (god of grain), Ermutet (goddess of childbirth and crops) Isis once more and Thermuthis (goddess of fertility and harvest).

The ninth plague was three days of complete darkness. This was God’s show of superiority over the sun god, Ra. Once again the other Egyptian gods were powerless. Ptah, the chief god of Memphis, and the one who created the moon, the sun and the earth was silent. Atum, the sun god and creator who was worshiped at Heliopolis, the major centre of sun worship was also. Tem, the god of the sunset and Shu, the god of sunlight and air also had no response. Notice the serpent around the sun in this picture. You may have noticed that Egyptian Pharaoh’s wore headpieces with serpents at the front either in movies or photos you have seen.

Finally, the tenth plague was the death of all the firstborn sons. God says in Exodus 12:12 that this was a plague of judgement on “all the gods of Egypt” and would show their total inability to protect their subjects from the hands of Almighty God. In the face of unparalleled tragedy, "all of the gods of Egypt" were silent. Meskhenet, goddess who presided at the birth of children. Min, the god of procreation. Isis, the goddess of fertility. Selket, the guardian of life. Renenutet, the cobra-goddess and guardian of Pharaoh. It was also an attack on the god that was considered to be the greatest of them all in Egypt, Pharaoh himself.

Taking their system from Babylon, Egypt’s Pharaoh’s were king, high priest and god of their empire. The very word "Pharaoh" means, "sun." "Pharaoh Hopra" (Jer 44:30) means "Priest of the Sun.

It is also interesting to note that just as Pharaoh had commanded that all Jewish males be killed the moment they were born, God visited that punishment on the entire first born of his country. Truly the promise given to Abraham by God that he would bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse them was fulfilled.

The number 10 represents completeness in pagan numerology so these plagues combined indicated the completeness of God’s power over these false demonic gods and goddesses.

God isn’t done showing his supremacy over idols by the way. In Revelation we read that at the end of time when the sixth seal is opened, “The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth” (Rev 6:12-13).

Now we can forget all these names for Egyptian gods we’ve just been reading about but remember Osiris, Isis and Horus. These are the primary Egyptian forms of the Babylonian trinity, Baal, Asherah and Tammuz.

Eventually Pharaoh let the Jews go as documented in the book of Exodus but after the dramatic and miraculous escape into the wilderness, they lost faith in the God who had liberated them and after just 2 months in the wilderness they were drawn back to the worship of false gods again in the desert – the same gods that they had been surrounded with all their lives in Egypt. While Moses was at the top of Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments from God, the people at the foot of the mountain began to wonder if he was ever coming down again. They wanted leadership and demanded that new gods be made to show them the way. And so they built a golden calf and claimed that this was the god that had led them out of slavery. Why a golden calf? Remember that Nimrod was represented by a bull because of the Chaldean word for “ruler” meaning “bull”. Thus, a bull was chosen to symbolise Nimrod in his worship. Note also that gold was chosen because it depicted the colour of the sun.

Following after the abominable patterns of worship set by Nimrod and Semiramis, which included sexual rituals and fornication, Moses returned from the mountain to find the Israelites defiling themselves by revelling in this kind of behaviour. They defiled themselves in every sense by worshipping this satanic god, allowing idols into their camp and in the acts they perpetrated in their name.

Now we have already seen examples of the cancerous spread of wickedness in the world and the same was threatening to happen amongst God’s chosen people here. Moses had to take swift action to purge the camp. A little yeast is quick to infect the whole batch and the Jews simply had to be kept holy. They were absolutely vital to God’s master plan of salvation for the world. If they too were lost to paganism, there was no hope for mankind. The whole world would be doomed to hellish misery and destruction. If the Jews did not survive as a righteous people devoted to God, then there would be no people group through whom Jesus could be born. The Messiah who was destined to die on a cross for the sins of the world, overcoming death and Satan in the process to free mankind from the yoke of slavery it was currently under couldn’t come. The Bible that tells us about those events would never have been written. The very existence of hope, life and liberty hinged on what happened to the Jews; it was that important. Moses made a tough decision. He asked all those who were on the Lord’s side to come to him. They were then told to strap on their swords and set about killing all those who weren’t. Around 3000 died that day.

This incident is used by modern atheists to portray God as a blood thirsty monster, unworthy of worship. But if those 3000 hadn’t died, the Jews had turned to paganism and Jesus hadn’t come, I doubt if there would even be a world today. And if there was, it would be hell on earth. Satan would be running amok and there would be nothing but wickedness, depravity, pain and misery. We only have to look in further detail at some of the practices associated with the ancient gods.

For example, take Molech who was the form of Marduk/Nimrod worshipped by the Ammonites. We read in Leviticus that part of their rituals involved child sacrifice and cannibalism – the eating of their flesh. God warned Moses about this repeatedly.

“Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed; to be passed through the fire, to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.” – Leviticus 18:21

Human sacrifices in fire were part of Nimrod's worship from the very earliest days. Even the name Tammuz reflects this. In Chaldee his name means "the perfecting fire." It was believed that fire was the means of perfecting and purifying man's soul.

Later in Jeremiah 32:35 we read:

“They built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters, causing them to pass through fire, to Molech, though I never commanded, nor did it enter my mind, that they should do such a detestable thing and so make Judah sin.”

God's priests in the Tabernacle used the meat of the sacrifices for food, and so did the priests of Baal also eat of their human sacrifices. This is where we get the word “cannibal” from. The Chaldean "Cahna-Bal," means, "Priest of Baal."

Don’t let anyone attempt to portray God as a murderous villain slaughtering innocent women and children. We are talking about the defeat of depravity from the pit of hell. The camp had to be kept holy. A concept the modern world understands little about.

We should also see in this episode the burning hatred God has for sin and remember how vital it is for us to remain righteous in his sight today. Because of Jesus, there is now no need for bloodshed when we sin and this has perhaps diminished our understanding of its severity. We should remember however that the punishment for sin is as severe today as it always has been. It’s just that Jesus already spilled his blood so that we don’t have to. When we sin we deserve death just as those Israelites did who turned away from God. Thank Jesus he has taken the punishment on our behalf.

Perhaps as further punishment for that generation, perhaps to build character, perhaps to continue the purging process, perhaps as a mixture of all three, God decided to keep them in the desert for 40 more years. Many of the generation that had been led out of Egypt died in the desert and never stepped into the Promised Land. Indeed, Moses himself was never allowed to set foot in the Promised Land – only to see it.

There’s another interesting point to be made about the Israelites time in the desert and it’s to do with how God chose to reveal himself to Moses. He chose to reveal Himself to Moses at the top of a mountain. Remember that Babylonian ziggurats were built to represent mountains and the apexes were said to be where the gods lived. Remember this is as a result of Satan’s desire to be the ‘most high’. Because all ancient mythologies and false religions stem from Babylon you’ll find parallels of this in most cultures. Mount Olympus for example is famously where the Greek gods were supposed to have lived. The fact that God revealed himself to Moses at the top of a mountain clearly echoes this idea. It is likely God did this so the Israelites could understand what was going on when Moses ascended Sinai. They were used to the idea that deities lived at the top of mountains. This could have been God using what they already knew to communicate that he was their God. Talking to them in a language they could understand. And since ziggurats were built by man to glorify man and their gods were said to reside there, God was showing his superiority again by revealing himself atop a mountain that he’d made – a real one - and on ground that was so much higher than these ziggurats which would have looked tiny by comparison. What God was saying to his people is that He is the real ‘Most High’. Interestingly, Jesus most famous sermon is the ‘sermon on the mount’. He was subtly revealing himself to be God in the choosing of that location.

"Every victim of a crime in Michigan is entitled to make a statement in open court regarding the impact of the crime on their life. The statement is limited to the victim's physical, emotional and financial well being as it relates to the crime. Keep that in my as you read my statement. Below is a copy of the victim impact statement I gave today at the Underwear Bomber sentencing hearing. When reading my statement, keep in mind that I am a practicing attorney in the State of Michigan. In addition, I regularly practice in the Court the hearings are taking place at and therefore, I am somewhat limited as to what I can say. We were limited to 5 minutes each.

I wish to thank the Court for allowing me these 5 minutes to make my statement. My references to the government in this statement refer to the Federal Government excluding this Court and the prosecution. On Christmas Day 2009, my wife and I were returning from an African safari and had a connecting flight through Amsterdam. As we waited for our flight, we sat on the floor next to the boarding gate. What I witnessed while sitting there and subsequent events have changed my life forever. While I sat there, I witnessed Umar dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt, being escorted around security by a man in a tan suit who spoke perfect American English and who aided Umar in boarding without a passport. The airline gate worker initially refused Umar boarding until the man in the tan suit intervened. The event meant nothing to me at the time. Little did I know that Umar would try to kill me a few hours later as our flight approached Detroit. The final 10 minutes of our flight after the attack were the worst minutes of my life. During those 10 minutes I sat paralyzed in fear. Unfortunately, what happened next has had an even greater impact on my life and has saddened me further.

When we landed, I was shocked that our plane taxied up to the gate. I was further shocked that we were forced to sit on the plane for 20 minutes with powder from the so called bomb all over the cabin. The officers that boarded the plane did nothing to ensure our safety and did not check for accomplices or other explosive devices. Several passengers trampled through parts of the bomb as they exited the plane. We were then taken into the terminal with our unchecked carry on bags. Again, there was no concern for our safety even though Umar told the officers that there was another bomb on board as he exited the plane. I wondered why nobody was concerned about our safety, accomplices or other bombs and the lack of concern worried me greatly. I immediately told the FBI my story in order to help catch the accomplice I had seen in Amsterdam. It soon became obvious that the FBI wasn't interested in what I had to say, which upset me further. For one month the government refused to admit the existence of the man in the tan suit before changing course and admitting his existence in an ABC News article on January 22, 2010. That was the last time the government talked about this man. The video that would prove the truth of my account has never been released. I continue to be emotional upset that the video has not been released. The Dutch police, meanwhile, in this article (show article), also confirmed that Umar did not show his passport in Amsterdam which also meant that he didn't go through security as both are in the same line in Amsterdam. It upsets me that the government refuses to admit this fact.

I became further saddened from this case, when Patrick Kennedy of the State Department during Congressional hearings, admitted that Umar was a known terrorist, was being followed, and the U.S. allowed him into the U.S. so that it could catch Umar's accomplices. I was once again shocked and saddened when Michael Leiter of the National Counter terrorism Center admitted during these same hearings that intentionally letting terrorists into the U.S. was a frequent practice of the U.S. Government. I cannot fully explain my sadness, disappointment and fear when I realized that my government allowed an attack on me intentionally.

During this time, I questioned if my country intentionally put a known terrorist onto my flight with a live bomb. I had many sleepless nights over this issue. My answer came shortly thereafter. In late 2010, the FBI admitted to giving out intentionally defective bombs to the Portland Christmas Tree Bomber,the Wrigley Field Bomber and several others. Further, Mr. Chambers was quoted in the Free Press on January 11, 2011 when he indicated that the government's own explosives experts had indicated that Umar's bomb was impossibly defective. I wondered how that could be. Certainly, I thought, Al Qaeda wouldn't go through all of the trouble to plan such an attack only to provide the terrorist with an impossibly defective bomb.

I attended nearly all of the pretrial hearings. At the hearing on January 28, 2011, I was greatly disappointed by the prosecution's request to block evidence from Mr. Chambers "as it could then be able to be obtained by third parties, who could use it in a civil suit against the government". It really bothered me that the government apparently was admitting to wrongdoing of some kind as it admitted that it was concerned it would be sued. It further upset me to know that the government was putting its own interests ahead of those of the passengers.

When I attended the jury selection hearings, I questioned why versions of the same two questions kept coming up, those being:

1. Do you think whether you'll be able to tell whether something is actually a bomb? and
2. Do you realize that sometimes the media doesn't always tell the truth?

I continued to be greatly saddened at this point as I felt the truth continued to be hidden.

When Umar listed me as his only witness, I was happy to testify, not on his behalf, but on behalf of the truth. I never expected to testify, as my eyewitness account would have been too damaging to the myth that the government and media are putting forward. A mere 5 days after I was announced as a witness, there was an inexplicable guilty plea which exasperated me as I no longer would be testifying.

In closing I will just say that regardless of how the media and government try to shape the public perception of this case, I am convinced that Umar was given an intentionally defective bomb by a U.S. Government agent and placed on our flight without showing a passport or going through security, to stage a false terrorist attack to be used to implement various government policies.

The effect this matter has had on my life has been astounding and due to this case, I will never trust the government in any matter, ever.

In regards to sentencing, nothing I've said excuses the fact that Umar tried to kill me. He has waived his valid claim to the entrapment defense. Umar, you are not a great Muslim martyr, you are merely a "Patsy". I ask the court to impose the mandatory sentence."

Chastity is the most unpopular of the Christian virtues. There is no getting away from it; the Christian rule is, 'Either marriage, with complete faithfulness to your partner, or else total abstinence.' Now this is so difficult and so contrary to our instincts, that obviously either Christianity is wrong or our sexual instinct, as it now is, has gone wrong. One or the other. Of course, being a Christian, I think it is the instinct which has gone wrong.

But I have other reasons for thinking so. The biological purpose of sex is children, just as the biological purpose of eating is to repair the body. Now if we eat whenever we feel inclined and just as much as we want, it is quite true most of us will eat too much: but not terrifically too much. One man may eat enough for two, but he does not eat enough for ten. The appetite goes a little beyond its biological purpose, but not enormously. But if a healthy young man indulged his sexual appetite whenever he felt inclined, and if each act produced a baby, then in ten years he might easily populate a small village. This appetite is in ludicrous and preposterous excess of its function.

Or take it another way. You can get a large audience together for a strip-tease act-that is, to watch a girl undress on the stage. Now suppose you come to a country where you could fill a theatre by simply bringing a covered plate on to the stage and then slowly lifting the cover so as to let every one see, just before the lights went out, that it contained a mutton chop or a bit of bacon, would you not think that in that country something had gone wrong with the appetite for food? And would not anyone who had grown up in a different world think there was something equally queer about the state of the sex instinct among us?

One critic said that if he found a country in which such striptease acts with food were popular, he would conclude that the people of that country were starving. He meant, of course, to imply that such things as the strip-tease act resulted not from sexual corruption but from sexual starvation. I agree with him that if, in some strange land, we found that similar acts with mutton chops were popular, one of the possible explanations which would occur to me would be famine. But the next step would be to test our hypothesis by finding out whether, in fact, much or little food was being consumed in that country. If the evidence showed that a good deal was being eaten, then of course we should have to abandon the hypothesis of starvation and try to think of another one. In the same way, before accepting sexual starvation as the cause of the strip-tease, we should have to look for evidence that there is in fact more sexual abstinence in our age than in those ages when things like the strip-tease were unknown. But surely there is no such evidence. Contraceptives have made sexual indulgence far less costly within marriage and far safer outside it than ever before, and public opinion is less hostile to illicit unions and even to perversion than it has been since Pagan times. Nor is the hypothesis of 'starvation' the only one we can imagine. Everyone knows that the sexual appetite, like our other appetites, grows by indulgence. Starving men may think much about food, but so do gluttons; the gorged, as well as the famished, like titillations.

Here is a third point. You find very few people who want to eat things that really are not food or to do other things with food instead of eating it. In other words, perversions of the food appetite are rare. But perversions of the sex instinct are numerous, hard to cure, and frightful. I am sorry to have to go into all these details but I must. The reason why I must is that you and I, for the last twenty years, have been fed all day long on good solid lies about sex. We have been told, till one is sick of hearing it, that sexual desire is in the same state as any of our other natural desires and that if only we abandon the silly old Victorian idea of hushing it up, everything in the garden will be lovely. It is not true. The moment you look at the facts, and away from the propaganda, you see that it is not.

They tell you sex has become a mess because it was hushed up. But for the last twenty years it has not been. It has been chattered about all day long. Yet it is still in a mess. If hushing up had been the cause of the trouble, ventilation would have set it right. But it has not. I think it is the other way round. I think the human race originally hushed it up because it had become such a mess. Modern people are always saying, 'Sex is nothing to be ashamed of.' They may mean two things. They may mean 'There is nothing to be ashamed of in the fact that the human race reproduces itself in a certain way, nor in the fact that it gives pleasure' If they mean that, they are right. Christianity says the same. It is not the thing, nor the pleasure, that is the trouble.

The old Christian teachers said that if man had never fallen, sexual pleasure, instead of being less than it is now, would actually have been greater. I know some muddle-headed Christians have talked as if Christianity thought that sex, or the body, or pleasure, were bad in themselves. But they were wrong. Christianity is almost the only one of the great religions which thoroughly approves of the body-which believes that matter is good, that God Himself once took on a human body, that some kind of body is going to be given to us even in Heaven and is going to be an essential part of our happiness, or beauty and our energy. Christianity has glorified marriage more than any other religion: and nearly all the greatest love poetry in the world has been produced by Christians. If anyone says that sex, in itself, is bad, Christianity contradicts him at once. But, of course, when people say, 'Sex is nothing to be ashamed of,' they may mean 'the state into which the sexual instinct has now got is nothing to be ashamed of.

If they mean that, I think they are wrong. I think it is everything to be ashamed of. There is nothing to be ashamed of in enjoying your food: there would be everything to be ashamed of if half the world made food the main interest of their lives and spent their time looking at pictures of food and dribbling and smacking their lips. I do not say you and I are individually responsible for the present situation. Our ancestors have handed over to us organisms which are warped in this respect: and we grow up surrounded by propaganda in favour of unchastity. There are people who want to keep our sex instinct inflamed in order to make money out of us. Because, of course, a man with an obsession is a man who has very little sales-resistance. God knows our situation; He will not judge us as if we had no difficulties to overcome. What matters is the sincerity and perseverance of our will to overcome them.

Before we can be cured we must want to be cured. Those who really wish for help will get it; but for many modern people even the wish is difficult. It is easy to think that we want something when we do not really want it. A famous Christian long ago told us that when he was a young man he prayed constantly for chastity; but years later he realised that while his lips had been saying, 'Oh Lord, make me chaste,' his heart had been secretly adding, 'But please don't do it just yet.' This may happen in prayers for other virtues too; but there are three reasons why it is now specially difficult for us to desire-let alone to achieve-complete chastity.

In the first place our warped natures, the devils who tempt us, and all the contemporary propaganda for lust, combine to make us feel that the desires we are resisting are so 'natural', so 'healthy', and so reasonable, that it is almost perverse and abnormal to resist them. Poster after poster, film after film, novel after novel, associate the idea of sexual indulgence with the ideas of health, normality, youth, frankness, and good humour. Now this association is a lie. Like all powerful lies, it is based on a truth-the truth, acknowledged above, that sex in itself (apart from the excesses and obsessions that have grown round it) is 'normal' and 'healthy', and all the rest of it. The lie consists in the suggestion that any sexual act to which you are tempted at the moment is also healthy and normal. Now this, on any conceivable view, and quite apart from Christianity, must be nonsense. Surrender to all our desires obviously leads to impotence, disease, jealousies, lies, concealment, and everything that is the reverse of health, good humour, and frankness. For any happiness, even in this world, quite a lot of restraint is going to be necessary; so the claim made by every desire, when it is strong, to be healthy and reasonable, counts for nothing. Every sane and civilised man must have some set of principles by which he chooses to reject some of his desires and to permit others. One man does this on Christian principles, another on hygienic principles, another on sociological principles. The real conflict is not between Christianity and 'nature', but between Christian principles and other principles in the control of 'nature'. For 'nature' (in the sense of natural desire) will have to be controlled anyway, unless you are going to ruin your whole life. The Christian principles are, admittedly, stricter than the others; but then we think you will get help towards obeying them which you will not get towards obeying the others.

In the second place, many people are deterred from seriously attempting Christian chastity because they think (before trying) that it is impossible. But when a thing has to be attempted, one must never think about possibility or impossibility. Faced with an optional question in an examination paper, one considers whether one can do it or not: faced with a compulsory question, one must do the best one can. You may get some marks for a very imperfect answer: you will certainly get none for leaving the question alone. Not only in examinations but in war, in mountain climbing, in learning to skate, or swim, or ride a bicycle, even in fastening a stiff collar with cold fingers, people quite often do what seemed impossible before they did it. It is wonderful what you can do when you have to. We may, indeed, be sure that perfect chastity-like perfect charity-will not be attained by any merely human efforts. You must ask for God's help. Even when you have done so, it may seem to you for a long time that no help, or less help than you need, is being given. Never mind. After each failure, ask forgiveness, pick yourself up, and try again. Very often what God first helps us towards is not the virtue itself but just this power of always trying again. For however important chastity (or courage, or truthfulness, or any other virtue) may be, this process trains us in habits of the soul which are more important still. It cures our illusions about ourselves and teaches us to depend on God. We learn, on the one hand, that we cannot trust ourselves even in our best moments, and, on the other, that we need not despair even in our worst, for our failures are forgiven. The only fatal thing is to sit down content with anything less than perfection.

Thirdly, people often misunderstand what psychology teaches about 'repressions'. It teaches us that 'repressed' sex is dangerous. But 'repressed' is here a technical term: it does not mean 'suppressed' in the sense of 'denied' or 'resisted'. A repressed desire or thought is one which has been thrust into the subconscious (usually at a very еarly age) and now come before the rnind only in a disguised and unrecognisable form. Repressed sexuality does not appear to the patient to be sexuality at all. When an adolescent or an adult is engaged in resisting a conscious desire, he is not dealing with a repression nor is he in the least danger of creating a repression. On the contrary, those who are seriously attempting chastity are more conscious, and soon know a great deal more about their own sexuality than anyone else. They come to know their desires as Wellington knew Napoleon, or as Sherlock Holmes knew Moriarty; as a rat-catcher knows rats or a plumber knows about leaky pipes. Virtue-even attempted virtue-brings light; indulgence brings fog.

Finally, though I have had to speak at some length about sex, I want to make it as clear as I possibly can that the centre of Christian morality is not here. If anyone thinks that Christians regard unchastity as the supreme vice, he is quite wrong. The sins of the flesh are bad, but they are the least bad of all sins. All the worst pleasures are purely spiritual: the pleasure of putting other people in the wrong, of bossing and patronising and spoiling sport, and back-biting, the pleasures of power, of hatred. For there are two things inside me, competing with the human self which I must try to become. They are the Animal self, and the Diabolical self. The Diabolical self is the worse of the two. That is why a cold, self-righteous prig who goes regularly to church may be far nearer to hell than a prostitute. But, of course, it is better to be neither.

Its comprehensive and reveals much about the various facets, planning and power behind the efforts to create a one world government. This is continued from the first and second Tower of Babel articles.

God Intervenes

When sinful perversion and wickedness took hold of the world the first time, God sent a flood to wipe the slate clean and started again. However we have seen that within just a few generations of the flood waters receding, wickedness was already re-establishing itself in the world with Babylon at its epicentre. It seemed that as long as people were unified together with one mind and voice, the result would always be a swift descent into degradation – the natural state of the unreformed human heart. God had a far more subtle but long lasting solution to this problem this time. So long lasting that it is only now, in the 21st Century, that we have come close to reversing it. He said:

“Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other”. – Genesis 11:7

The key to confounding the building of the Tower of Babel and the satanic agenda that it represented was to confuse their language – thus inhibiting them from working together. It brought confusion and eventually caused them to scatter, leaving their tower unfinished.

“In that way, the LORD scattered them all over the world...” – Genesis 11:8

Babel literally translates as “confusion” and it is the word through which we get ‘babble’ in English. But as the people scattered, they carried with them remnants of their mystery Babylon religion wherever they went. This religious system of muddled half-truths spread across the globe and it formed the well-spring for all subsequent false religion and endless mythological systems. And this is where the story gets trickier to follow.

As the people scattered outwards from Babylon and into the rest of the world the single, easily identifiable Mystery religion became different things in different places at different times. Marduk (Nimrod), Astarte (Semiramis) and Tammuz had already been given multiple names to represent different parts of their character and had then developed into distinct personalities as legends and myths cropped up around them. These distinct personalities were then assigned to various aspects of daily living. There was the god of war, god of the sea, the god of fertility and the sun god etc. Indeed a god or goddess for just about everything.

But because everyone now spoke a different language and they had moved to different regions, these gods and goddesses assumed different names depending on the location. In Greece, Astarte became known as Aphrodite, Athena and Demeter. In Egypt she becomes Isis. In Canaan she is Ishtar. In Ephesus she is Diana. In Israel she is Ashtoreth. The Phrygians know here as Cybele. In Phoenecia she is known as Europa. In Rome she is Ceres and Venus. As the goddess of Thelema sheis Nuit, Tanuit or Anuit. In India she is Kali. It’s estimated that there are around 5000 different names altogether.

You will have heard of some of these names and others will be obscure. Names like Aphrodite and Venus are still widely known. Others like Demeter and Cybele are now mostly unheard of. Or on the male side, you will have heard of Apollo, Mars, Achilles or Poseidon but may perhaps be less familiar with Nebo or Nabul. The names that are still well known tend to be the Greek or Roman forms, mainly because they had such great empires and as a result their mythologies were most widely spread, written about and preserved; so well preserved that they are still household names. There are shaving products named after Venus. We had NASA rocket ships called Apollo. We’ve had movies like Troy starring Brad Pitt as Achilles in which some of these muddled half truth stories and legends of heroes are depicted. The name Europa has even become the name of a whole continent. They all go back to just three people from Babylon – Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz.

You can see the common threads if you look for them. How the Roman Venus is the equivalent of the Greek Aphrodite to name just one example. You will see recurring titles such as queen of heaven, the great mother, mother goddess or even Mother Nature. You will see how it is just one woman under different names and that she has existed in all cultures and civilisations throughout history. You’ll also see how all those ancient mythologies contained family relationships and feuds, very often culminating in murder and incest. You’ll see the recurring theme of Mother and Child cults that began with Semiramis and Tammuz. You’ll see these threads uniting even major religions of today like Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism and Catholicism.

Keeping track of all the routes the Babylonian religious system took however is impossible and also unnecessary. We only need to focus on a few. And that’s what the rest of this book will attempt to do from here on in. At this stage all we have learned is that all mythological systems can be traced back to three people in Babylon. And behind the mystery religion of Babylon is Satan.

God’s Masterplan

With the whole Earth starting to be overrun with polytheism and the idea of godhood being so degraded in the minds of men, God set in motion a plan to reveal Himself to the world and to redeem them from their sin. Just as the beginning of the world began with one man in Adam and the beginning of the post flood world began in one man through Noah, the beginning of this plan of redemption began with another solitary figure called Abram.

It was through Noah’s son Ham that Nimrod was born but it was through the lineage of another of his three sons, Shem, that we find Abram’s lineage. The Lord called Abram saying:

“Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” – Genesis 12:1-3

Abram was later renamed Abraham by God and his wife Sarai was renamed Sarah. It was through their offspring that a new nation was to be born. God says in Genesis 18:19...

“I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just.” – Genesis 18:19

God’s plan was to create a group of people – a nation - that would belong to him in the midst of a world that had fallen prey to the satanic mystery Babylon system. Through this group of people, He would execute His stunning plan for the redemption of the world. He would reveal himself to them and through them to the rest of the world. The Old Testament is the story of how God revealed himself to them. It has been faithfully recorded that the rest of us might also read about and know God for ourselves through their efforts. Consequently, we can on that alone agree that all the families of the earth truly have been blessed through them as promised (Gen 12:1-3). The culmination of the masterplan however would be Jesus, the Messiah prophesied about in Genesis 3; the one who would crush the serpent’s head. He died on a cross and thus ended Satan’s grip on mankind once and for all. But it all started with one man; Abraham.

When Abraham received this promise however he was already around 75 years old. Sarah was barren and they were childless. Humanly speaking, what God was promising was impossible. Abraham’s faith faltered as he just couldn’t see how it would be possible for him to become the father of any child, let alone one that would be the start of a great nation. Sarah suggested that they could force the issue by having a son with their Egyptian slave girl Hagar instead, and that they could build a family on their own strength through this union. Abraham did this and the son was called Ishmael. However this was not the child that God had promised Abraham and it was later in life that Sarah eventually miraculously conceived. This ‘child of the promise’ was called Isaac and it was through him that the Jewish nation came to be. Isaac then had a son Jacob. This is why God is thereafter regularly referred to as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. They are following this lineage and making it distinct from the lineage that came from his other son, Ishmael.

Because Ishmael was also a child of Abraham, God promised that he would turn him into a great nation too. Ishmael is the first of the people group we now know as the Arabs. God said...

“Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted. But I will also make a nation of the descendants of Hagar’s son because he is your son, too.” – Genesis 21:12-13

The rest of the Old Testament is basically the story of this nation that became known as Israel, this people group that became known as the Jews, and how they stood alone as God’s people in a world full of Mystery Babylon religion manifested as polytheism, sorcery and astrology. They were often persecuted, attacked, enslaved, driven out from their land but God revealed himself to them and through them to the world. As we move through the Old Testament years we will see evidence of this.

Incidentally, the fact that Isaac replaced the first-born Ishmael as the favoured son is largely responsible for the Arab’s hatred of the Jews. As descendants of Ishmael, the Islamic world retains the same bitterness and animosity towards Israel as Ishmael had towards Isaac. They also retain his characteristics of hostility and propensity towards violence.
